Trend- SAT Preparation Courses Start Ever Earlier

Like many outstanding students with dreams of going to an Ivy League college, Burton Liao took a test preparation course to increase his scores on college entrance exams.

But unlike his classmates in the summer program, Liao plenty of time to learn vocabulary SAT results and construction strategies before the arrival of the big day of the test.

It’s only 13 years.

Although most of the collaborative students focus on entrance exams in high school or high school, Liao enters eighth grade at a public school in Walnut.

In a sign of increased competition to enter the best colleges and universities, younger students enroll in college exam preparation courses. Increasingly, students receive help before they begin their senior year – and even in high school.

For Liao, a serious guy who hopes to attend Harvard one day, which is common sense. “This gives a good start,” he explained. The SAT, said Liao, “and has a lot of vocabulary words, and many mathematical concepts you need to know.”

Jeff Rubenstein, director of research at Princeton Review, said the trend toward early readiness reflects the emphasis on standardized testing across K-12 education. This, in turn, “has increased the sense of the need … for the preparation of the test,” said Rubenstein.

Some of the demanding young students are looking for incentives in the PSAT, a test used primarily as a test of SAT practice. This is due to the greater PSAT scorers – less than 1% of junior high students take the exam each October – qualifies as semifinalists in the competition for scholarships for national merit scholarships.

High PSAT scores can also help high school counselors who decide which students must pass the advanced courses that are considered essential for college candidates.

High school students who are looking for a general exam preparation, trying to qualify for summer programs or other special offers for talented young people requiring them to take the SAT, PSAT or ACT, another college entrance test.

The demand for the youngest students and their families was enough that the review of Princeton, one of the two leading national test preparation companies, has launched a summer program called Smart Start designed for students in the seventh To the tenth. The program, which costs approximately $ 500, provides 24 hours of classroom instruction as well as test sessions.

Kaplan Inc., the largest company in the industry, does not offer any program equivalent to Smart Start, but asked students to connect in the sixth year for the Individual Prep Scoring tutoring program. It costs about $ 100 per hour, usually for a minimum of 15 hours.

Registration of younger students, who account for only a small fraction of the estimated SAT test activity estimated at $ 200 million, reflects “the increased pressure brought about by many families with regard to admission to college “Said Karen Blass, a Kaplan spokeswoman.

Early preparation is part of a trend to take university entrance exams earlier in the year and take the PSAT, not only in October of the year, but the fall of the last year.

This occurs in part because of the planned time for senior citizens to apply for popular programs for early college admission.

Some students also want to get their SAT out of the way before preparing for SAT II based curriculum exams, which are usually taken late in the beginning of high school.

In the test preparation industry, however, providing training in college entrance test skills for college, or even through the ninth or tenth year, is controversial.

“It’s unethical,” said Adam Ingersoll, executive director of Ivy West Educational Services, a California-based company. “In the ninth and tenth year, you do not need strategies for SAT learning. You have to take challenging courses, read books … and participate in activities that are important to you.”

Without naming specific offenders, Ingersoll attributed the companies that encouraged “the tendency of families to feel increasingly anxious that

Trend – Killing of Americans at Kabul hospital highlights foreigners’ risk

KABUL – The death toll of three Americans at a charity hospital on Monday announced a sad trend that arose in the months-long United States-led war in Afghanistan as foreign civilians are killed when troops.

The blatant attack on a policeman at CURE International hospital in Kabul, serving 37,000 Afghans a year, surprised even this war-weary city and seemed to reduce the population and declining foreigners working in the capital.

At least 22 foreign civilians have been killed this year in attacks on non-military targets, including a Lebanese restaurant, a luxury hotel and foreign journalists covering preparations for the April 5 presidential election. The figure is the number of United States-led coalition troops killed this year, although nine of those deaths were due to non-hostile incidents.

As international forces are accelerating their withdrawal, Afghan soldiers and police have taken cumbersome security responsibilities. The Taliban and their supporters, for their part, have infiltrated these forces to commit “insider” attacks on international troops.

Now, some fear that insurgents have shifted their tactics, choosing to aim slightly supervised to put pressure on the targets of Western countries, although their remaining military forces – including about 30,000 US troops – parked far from the front lines.

“They can be considered as the soft low-wind operation, an easy way to hit Western governments instead of trying to fight the NATO and military and potentially a very effective way to direct aid Foreign and Afghan Influence “Kate Clark, director of the Afghanistan Network Analysts, a research organization based in Kabul, recently wrote.

The Taliban denied responsibility in Thursday’s shooting as they did earlier this month after a police officer fired two Associated Press journalists who were part of a convoy of election workers in Khowst province in the east Of Afghanistan.

The attack took place on Thursday 9 to 30 hours, in the west of Kabul to one of the main medical centers of the capital. Created in 2005 by CURE International, a Pennsylvania-based Christian charity that manages hospitals and health programs in 29 countries, the hospital specializes in mother and child health. It also deals with birth defects such as fistula and cleft lip and consists of Afghan doctors, nurses and midwives.

Staff were found Thursday in the process of treating their own comrades and the gunman, who committed suicide. It was returned to the Afghan authorities.

Hospital authorities identify one of the victims as Dr. Jerry Umanos, who divides his practice between Kabul and Lewndale Christian Health Center in Chicago. In 2005, umanos and his wife, Jan, moved to Afghanistan, where he coordinated one of the few medical training programs in the country, according to a profile on the Lawndale site.

“He was a great person, a great doctor. It is a great loss,” said umana’s stepmother Angie Schuitema. “He did what he wanted to do. He thanked God for allowing him to help the people there.”

Lately, umanos was worried about his safety in Kabul, telling a friend in the United States that he was shot while running.

“I was obviously worried,” said friend Art Jones, a doctor who has visited twice umanos in Kabul. “At the same time, you can not count the number of children Jerry touched the lives he saved and the doctors trained, that’s what it was, it was done by the kids.”

The CURE hospital, along a busy street, is considered more modern and more hygienic than in Afghanistan, and patients sometimes travel for hours on buses to get treatment there. It is monitored by private security personnel as well as Afghan police stationed at border checkpoints.

An officer at the nearby checkpoint arrived at the hospital by a visitor entrance and fired umanas and two American visitors greeted, said Afghan security officials. The couple, a father and a son, were not part of the hospital staff, said Dr. Yousof Khan, deputy director of the hospital. The assailant also injured a fourth American whose affiliation with the hospital was unclear, Khan said.

They cool individuals effectively by introducing slow movement into the otherwise still, hot air of a space. History of Almonard Ceiling Fan:

Almonard Ceiling Fan: Punkah-type ceiling fans initiate to five hundred B.C., and are native to Bharat. in contrast to fashionable rotary fans, these fan fans move air by moving to and fro, and were operated manually by cord. The first rotary ceiling fans appeared within the early decennary and decennium, within the u. s. At that point, they weren’t hopped-up by any type of motor. Instead, a stream of running water was used, in conjunction with a rotary engine, to drive a system of belts which might flip the blades of two-blade fan units. These systems may accommodate many fan units, so became standard in stores, restaurants, and offices. a number of these systems still survive nowadays, and may be seen in components of the southern u. s. wherever they originally tested helpful.

I really want you to have this

I really want you to have this

I really want you to have this: God wants you to enjoy your life now, not when.

I am grateful that we have the Holy Spirit, who lives in all believers in Jesus Christ. It is to use that gives us the supernatural strength and anointing to live this day to day ordinary life with the supernatural joy of the Lord. Nehemiah 8:10 says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. And we need this force every day.

It is important to understand what joy. It’s not to be entertaining all the time, make your way all the time and laugh all the time. Joy can be extreme hilarity or tranquil delight and everything happens in the middle! I am a serious person in itself, so the definition of “quiet pleasure” is usually my state of joy. But a good belly laugh is sometimes what you need.

Good medicine for the heart
The Bible says in Proverbs 17:22 that “a happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works of healing …” studies Curiously, there have been demonstrates that laughter has interesting advantages:

Laughter causes the release of endorphins, a chemical in the body that relieves pain and creates a sense of well-being.
It can increase your energy levels, relieve tension and change your attitude.
It increases antibodies and strengthens your immune system.
A good laugh makes you inhale more oxygen and stimulates your heart and blood circulation. It’s like an indoor aerobic exercise!
No wonder the devil wants to steal our joy and make us discouraged, depressed and oppressed. Remember that the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. But we do not have to give in to it and lose our joy.

Lighten up!
Make a decision today to enjoy your life. If you are too serious about everything, go on! Learn to laugh at yourself and the things that bother you normally. Remember that God still loves you. He knows everything about you and loves you anyway. We all have things about ourselves and our lives that have to change, but we change if we abide in Christ and live with the joy of the Lord.

During today’s day, make your goal: Rejoice in the Lord! As the joy of the Lord gives you strength, you can deal with all the problems you face, and you will enjoy your life while you are doing it!

Do you like the trip of a lifetime?

The truth is that God wants you to enjoy your life every day. Did you know? If you did not, or maybe you do not know if God approves people who appreciate life, look at John 10:10 (AMP). He said: “The thief does not come but to steal and kill and destroy I have come to have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (at most until it opens) ..

It is an absolutely incredible writing because it tells us clearly that God not only wants us to be alive, but He wants us to love to be alive. He wants us to live with joy – abundant and overflowing joy!

Learn to live life
My passion as a teacher of God’s Word is to help people learn to live the life that Jesus died to give us. This is why we have called our program “Enjoying everyday life”. And I have learned from my own experience that if you do not have any joy, no matter what you have or what you do or how your circumstances can be good … that does not mean much.

So how can we have the joy of the Lord? Jesus tells us in John 15 that if we abide in him, we will experience the will of God for our lives, and all that Jesus will be ours. Hosted media make Jesus the most important person in your life, live and stay in it, and revolve around everything happens in life. It was at that time that we produced the fruit of a divine life. And it was then that the true joy of God is released in us.

It is easy to see that Jesus focuses on so many benefits. On the one hand, when we are going to pay attention to it, we do not focus on the problems of the world; And we can live with the peace and joy of God. Another benefit of living this way is that it prevents us from continually standing out to live in survival mode and disappear throughout the day.

Why is the game important?

Why is the game important?

Why is the game important?

According to Fromberg and Gullo (1992), the game improves language development, social skill, creativity, imagination and thinking skills. Frost (1992) agrees, stating that “play is the primary vehicle for the development of imagination and intelligence, language, social skills, and perceptual motor skills in infants and young children” (p.

Garvey (1977says that play is the most common infantile when children’s self-awareness, verbal and non-verbal communication knowledge and understanding of the physical and social world are growing dramatically.

Fromberg (1990) asserts that gambling is the “ultimate integrator of human experience” (p.223). This means that when children play, they build on their past experience: things they do, like others, read or watch on television, and use these experiences to build games, play scenarios and participate in activities.

Children use fine and thick motor skills in their play. They react socially. They think about what they are doing or they will. They use language to speak or for themselves and respond very often emotionally to the game activity. The integration of these different types of behaviors is fundamental for the cognitive development of young children. Rogers and Sawyer (1988), “at least until the age of nine, the cognitive structures of children work best in the unified mode” (P 58). Because children were inspired by all these behaviors, it is a very effective way to learn.

Cognitive development and reading
The relationship between play and cognitive development is described differently in the two theories of cognitive development that dominate early childhood education – Piaget and Vigotsky.

Piaget (1962) defines the piece as the assimilation, or the child’s efforts to ensure that environmental stimuli correspond to their own concepts. Piaget’s theory that play on itself does not necessarily cause the formation of new cognitive structures. Piaget says that the game was just for fun, and then allowed the children to practice the things they had learned, this has not necessarily translated into learning new things. In other words, the game reflects what the child has already learned, but necessarily the child is taught something new. In this perspective, the game is considered a “process that reflects symbolic development to emerge, but contributes little” (Johnsen and Christie, 1986, p 51).

However, Vygotsky’s theory says that the game actually facilitates cognitive development. Children do not just do what they already know – they also learn new things. In the discussion of Vygotsky’s theory, Vandenberg (1986) points out that “the game does not reflect so much thinking (as Piaget suggests), since it creates thought” (p.21).

The observations of the children in the game give examples to support theories of Piaget and Vygotsky game. A boy who puts on a raincoat and a fireman’s hat and rushes to rescue his teddy bear flames claimed in his home game practice what he has learned about the fire department. This supports Piaget’s theory. On the other hand, a child in the middle of blocks announcing his teacher: “Look! When I put these two square blocks, a rectangle appears!” A new knowledge built through your game. This supports Vygotsky’s theory. Let the children practice what they have learned in other contexts or build new knowledge, it is clear that the room plays an important role in the early childhood class.

Laughter- The Best Medicine

Laughter- The Best Medicine

Laughter, they say, is the best medicine. And there is a lot of evidence that laughter does us a lot.

Reduces pain and allows us to tolerate discomfort.

Reduces blood glucose levels, increased glucose tolerance in diabetics and non-diabetics.

This improves your professional performance, especially if your work depends on creativity and solving complex problems. Their role in intimate relationships is largely underestimated and what really is the glue of good marriages. Synchronize the speaker’s brains and the listener so that they adapt emotionally.

Laughter establishes – or restores – a positive emotional climate and a sense of connection between two people. In fact, some researchers believe that the main function of laughter is to unite people. And all the benefits of laughter can simply be the result of social support that laughter stimulates.

Now there is new evidence that laughter helps the blood vessels work better. It acts on the lining of blood vessels, called endothelium, causing relaxation and expansion of blood vessels, which increases blood flow. In other words, it is good for the heart and brain, two organs that require the constant flow of oxygen carried in the blood.

At this year’s meeting of the American College of Cardiology, Michael Miller, MD, of the University of Maryland reported that in a study of 20 healthy people, causing laughter did as much good in their arteries as aerobic activity. Not recommended for laughing and not exercising. However, he reports that he tries to laugh on a regular basis. The endothelium, he explains, regulates blood flow and adjusts the blood clotting tendency and clots. In addition, a variety of chemicals are segregated in response to injury, infection or irritation. It also plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular diseases.

“The endothelium is the first line in the development of atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries,” said Dr. Miller. “Therefore, given the results of our study, it is conceivable that laughter is important to maintain a healthy endothelium, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.”

At least, he adds, “laughter contradicts the impact of mental stress, detrimental to the endothelium.”

The researcher can not say with certainty exactly how laughter has its benefits to the heart. This could come from the vigorous movement of the diaphragm muscles like that of rice or grunt. Alternatively, or in addition, laughter can trigger the release of hormones in the brain, such as endorphins that have an effect on the arteries.

It is also possible that laughter increases the levels of nitric oxide in the walls of the arteries. It is known that nitric oxide plays a role in the dilation of the endothelium. “Perhaps mental stress leads to a breakdown of nitric oxide or inhibits a stimulus to produce nitric oxide which results in vasoconstriction.”

Dr. Miller offers a simple recipe that will not fail you and could save your life. “Thirty minutes of exercise three times a week and 15 minutes of laughter on a daily basis is probably good for the vascular system,” he said.

Reasons Why Laughter Is the Best Medicine

Have you ever been in a tense or difficult situation when you suddenly burst into a crack of laughter? Or do you feel a release or rejuvenate after watching a movie that is divinely divine?

It turns out there is some scientific truth behind the old saying. “The laugh is the best medicine.”

“Laughter activates natural body relaxation response. It’s like an internal jogging, providing a good massage to all internal organs while toning the abdominal muscles,” says Dr. Gulshan Sethi, chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Tucson Medical Center and professor at the University of Arizona Comprehensive Medicine Center.

That may be the reason why Deepak Chopra said that the healthiest response to life is laughter.

Studies have shown that laughter can have healing properties; And it is contagious. Here are six reasons why you should start laughing today.

Laughter is contagious
The discovery of mirror neurons – which makes you smile when someone smiles at you – gives credit to the belief that laughter is contagious.

When you sit trying to meet friends, you can help your brain to unleash its own rigor and foster closeness, which contributes to your well-being. Why do you think that sense of humor is an important factor when looking for a partner? We love the feeling of shared laughter and our body wants a lot from that feeling of the possible.

Laughter reduces stress response
When you laugh, there is a contraction of muscles increases blood flow and oxygenation. This stimulates the heart and lungs and triggers the release of endorphins that help you feel more relaxed physically and emotionally.

Laughter increases immunity
According to a study at Indiana State Nursing School, memorable laughter can increase the speed of natural killer cells, a type of white blood cell that attacks cancer cells.

Laughter increases resilience
Resilience is the ability to see failure as a natural progression toward success rather than a negative. Resilient people are happier and more successful.

The ability to recognize mistakes without getting angry or frustrated plays an important role in the development of resilience. Laughing mistakes allows us to recognize that making mistakes is part of the human being.

Laughter Fights Depression
Studies support laughter as a great way out of the downward spiral of depression. Being dissatisfied can become a model or a way of thinking if we do not move away from ourselves from time to time. By demonstrating our situation instead of making us feel the victim, we can find humor and see with new eyes. Even forced laughter releases a cocktail of hormones, neuropeptides and dopamine that can start to improve your mood.

Laughter Relieves Pain
People who laugh do not feel less pain, but they report at least concerned about the pain they experience. This does not change the levels of pain. The intensity of the pain is the same, but your perceived pain levels decrease and your belief that you can cope with the increases. Laughter itself is not the solution, but it can help a person overcome the discomfort.

Fast hacks for more laughter in your life
Make humor a priority reading a funny book, watching a comedy or listening to your favorite comedian.
Share laughter with friends. Spend more time with people having fun.
Practice laughter yoga, practices and Dr. Sethi teaches from time to time.
Remember that life is fun. The ability to laugh at yourself makes you attractive to others and can help relieve your own stress. Concentrate on looking for laughable moments in your day and tell a friend your funny story as a way to increase the power of sharing laughter.
Know what is not funny. Laughing at the coast of others is not fun. Be aware of your mood, the laughter of people.
Your ability to laugh can be cultivated with practice, in order to start with the focus on fun. Find the chance to be a fool. Remember that laughter, like smiling, was never exhausted when shared.

Back-to-Basics- Play in Early Childhood

Kyle plays with blocks and built a castle. Tony and Victoria are playing with the fire station and posing as firefighters. Kenzo and Carl play with a ball. Children play with playmates in the theater. Playgroups on the court choose players to play ball. As an early childhood professional, you are likely to use wordplay a hundred times a day.

Research shows that children learn best in an environment that allows them to explore, discover and play. Play is an important part of a developmentally adapted child care program. It is also closely linked to the development of cognitive, socio-emotional and physical behavior. But what does it mean to play and why is it so important for young children?

What’s the game?
While it is easy to compile a list of reading activities, it is much more difficult to define reproduction. Scales, et al. (1991) calls “the absorbing activity in which healthy young children participate with enthusiasm and abandonment” (p.15). Csikszentmihalyi (1981) described play as “a subset of life … an arrangement in which behavior can be practiced without fear of its consequences” (p.14). Garvey (1977) gave a useful description of the game for teachers when defining the game as an activity that is: 1) positively appreciated by the player; 2) self-motivated; 3) freely chosen; 4) engage; And 5) “certain systematic relationships with what is not playing” (p.5). These characteristics are important for teachers to remember because they impose adult values, needs or motives in children’s activities can change the nature of the game.

According to the dictionary of Webster’s English language office, the word game has 34 different meanings. As for toddlers and games, the following definitions are helpful Webster:

Light, strong movement or change (for example, to pretend you are a butterfly)
Acting or imitating part of a person or character (for example, playing at home)
To use a device (for example, to play blocks)
Exercise or activity for fun or recreation (for example, to play the tag)
Fun or enjoyable, as opposed to serious (for example, playing peek-a-boo or singing a silly song)
The action of a game (for example, the game of duck-duck)
